Ghana Gas CEO calls for more investment in gas infrastructure

Chief Executive Officer Judith Adjobah Blay of the Ghana National Gas Company Limited has urged for more investment in gas infrastructure across Africa. Blay highlighted that Africa possesses enough gas resources, but its potential remains untapped due to a lack of infrastructure for processing, transportation, storage, and distribution.

Addressing this issue during her participation in Africa Oil Week 2026, Blay emphasized the importance of stronger partnerships between African governments, national oil and gas companies, private investors, and development institutions to secure the capital needed for expanding gas infrastructure. She stated, "Africa has the gas resources.

The next frontier is building the infrastructure that connects those resources to the people, industries, and economies that need them." Blay further noted that developing the midstream segment would be crucial in bridging the gap between gas supply and demand, enhancing the efficiency and resilience of Africa's energy value chain.

For Ghana, Blay stressed that continued investment in gas infrastructure is vital for the country's energy security and industrialization plans. Her involvement at the forum also aimed to showcase Ghana's expertise in the midstream gas sector and promote greater regional collaboration in developing Africa's gas infrastructure. This call comes as African nations intensify their efforts to attract investment in the gas sector, recognizing infrastructure development as essential for transforming the continent's gas resources into dependable energy and broader economic opportunities.
