FIA appeal court strips Gasly of Monaco podium, reinstates Hadjar

The Formula One governing body, the FIA, has overturned a penalty that had previously demoted Alpine driver Pierre Gasly from third to seventh place at the Monaco Grand Prix. The court reinstated Red Bull's Isaac Hadjar to third place, restoring the order in which Gasly finished the race on June 7. Gasly had been penalized five seconds for speeding in the pit lane, a decision that was later overturned due to a timekeeping error.

The FIA's International Court of Appeal heard arguments from McLaren, Red Bull, and Alpine, with the verdict favoring the latter two teams. Alpine expressed disappointment and frustration, stating they maintain their belief that Gasly did not exceed the pit lane speed limit. Other teams affected by the decision include McLaren, whose Oscar Piastri moves up to fourth, and New Zealand's Liam Lawson, who returns to fifth. The championship standings for both teams will be adjusted accordingly.
