Iragbiji Ruling Houses Hail Aragbiji As Court Nullifies Lagbua’s Recognition

The four recognised ruling houses of Iragbiji have lauded Oba Abdul Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi Odundun IV, the Aragbiji, for his role in the legal proceeding that overturned the 2025 decision by the Osun State government in recognising the Lagbua family as the fifth ruling house. The judgment by the Osun State High Court, Iragbiji Judicial Division, set aside the 2025 decision, reaffirming the four ruling houses previously recognised — Ajibode, Ogunmolu, Osungbemi and Arodoye.

The decision came after the Osun State government in 2025 reopened and approved the 2010 Aderibigbe judicial panel of inquiry's recommendation to include the Lagbua family as a fifth ruling house. The case was brought by representatives of the four recognised ruling houses following the 2025 government decision. Justice G.O. Lawal found that the government had already considered and rejected the Lagbua family's request in 2013 and that it could not reopen the matter without following the proper legal process.

Moreover, the court held that the four recognised houses were not given a chance to be heard before the 2025 decision, which amounted to a breach of their rights. The Press Secretary to the Aragbiji, Adetayo Samson Aderibigbe, highlighted the importance of government decisions being in line with the law, due process, and fair hearing.

He also commended the Oba for his exemplary leadership, wisdom, and commitment to peace, unity, and stability in Iragbiji, noting that his reign will be remembered for preserving the town's history and heritage.
