Farmer loses left hand after clash with herdsman in Adamawa

In the Nyashika area of Gumti Ward, within Adamawa State's Toungo Local Government Area, a tragic incident occurred that resulted in a farmer losing his left hand. The farmer, identified as Hammasumo Ali, found himself in a dangerous situation when he attempted to prevent a herdsman from allowing his cattle to graze on his property.

The disagreement between Ali and the herdsman quickly escalated, leading to a violent confrontation. During the altercation, it is believed that the herdsman wielded a machete and attacked the farmer, leaving him with severe injuries. Ali's left hand was grievously injured and has since been amputated. As of now, he is receiving medical treatment at a local hospital, according to a statement issued by Daniel Pogu Toungo, the Secretary of Information for Toungo Local Government Area.

Following the incident, Toungo's Chairman, Hajiya Hauwa Guruja, personally visited Ali at the hospital to offer her sympathy and support. Guruja also made a public plea for residents to uphold peace, respect each other's rights, and resolve conflicts through dialogue instead of resorting to violence, in an effort to prevent further incidents of this nature in their community.
