Abu Dhabi Police warn against stopping in road after series of collisions

Abu Dhabi Police released footage revealing a traffic accident that caused a chain of collisions due to drivers becoming distracted and a vehicle stopping in the middle of the road. The video was shared in collaboration with the Monitoring and Control Centre. The Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate cautioned that distracted driving and stopping in the middle of the road, even in emergencies, can be hazardous for other road users.

Police advised motorists to keep moving toward the nearest exit or a secure location instead of remaining stationary on the roadway. If a vehicle cannot be moved, drivers should contact the Command and Control Centre at 999 for assistance. Doing so allows authorities to respond more swiftly, minimize the risk of serious accidents, and maintain traffic flow.

Drivers were urged to stay fully focused while driving, avoid distractions, and be prepared to handle unexpected road situations. Attentiveness and vigilance could help motorists identify potential hazards and make timely decisions. Under UAE traffic law, distracted driving incurs a Dh800 fine and four traffic points.
