Malaysian Umno President Zahid Hamidi has expressed his preference for the early General Elections, PRU16, to take place sooner rather than later. The current parliamentary term is set to conclude around December 2027, and the Returning Officer (SPR) can conduct elections within 60 days of that date, extending to February 2028. Zahid, who also heads Barisan Nasional (BN), stated that if the parliamentary term ends by the end of the year, the coalition is prepared to face it.

However, if the term continues until the end or even beyond, the coalition remains open to the possibility. According to Zahid, the decision on coalition cooperation in the elections will depend on the principle of mutual benefit and necessity for political gain. This principle was applied in forming the joint consultations and cooperation in the recent PRN Johor and Negeri Sembilan elections.

Zahid mentioned that while they are willing to campaign independently due to the political landscape in Johor, they believe the advantages of collaborating with other parties are more significant in Negeri Sembilan. They will observe the pros and cons of collaborating or not with other parties in the region. Zahid emphasized that they will analyze the profit and loss account of the political situation post-election to determine the feasibility of the coalition's stance.

He stated that they will assess whether the outcome will be black, red, or any other color, determining the coalition's preparedness based on projected political gains to ensure the confidence of the relevant state leadership. Zahid reiterated that the foundation of our political future lies in the paramount importance of unity among the Malay people, which they prioritize in their efforts to create a coalition.

However, they also acknowledge the need for a balanced approach to the increasingly complex political dynamics of the country in the coming decades.
