‘You were supposed to come back today’: Wife marks anniversary as firefighter husband remains missing in Nepal

In a tragic turn of events, a firefighter husband remains missing after a flood tragedy in Nepal, marking his 10th wedding anniversary with distress and hope. Hani Othman, the wife of Senior Fire Officer II Mohd Fakhrul Munir Mohd Isa, expressed her anxiety on Facebook, reminding her husband that he had promised to return home with an anniversary gift.

Hani, who took it upon herself to seek updates on the ongoing rescue efforts, has been in Nepal for six days, sharing her progress on social media and assisting in distributing aid to disaster victims. The couple had planned to sit for the Malaysian Skills Certificate examination, take a diving course in Tioman Island, and climb Mount Rinjani and Kilimanjaro.

Their ultimate dream was to reach the summit of Mount Everest together. As of now, 55 Malaysians and 77 others confirmed safe remain missing or uncontactable following the floods, with the death toll reaching 1,220 and 4,762 people still unaccounted for.
