Video-Streaming: Netflix erhöht Preise in Deutschland

Netflix has once again increased its prices in Germany after over two years of stability. The most expensive "Premium" subscription with 4K picture quality and 3D audio now costs 21.99 euros per month, up from 19.99 euros previously. The "Standard" subscription, which offers Full HD picture quality and fewer simultaneous usable devices, has seen its price rise from 13.99 to 15.99 euros.

The ad-supported subscription has also become more expensive, increasing from 4.99 to 6.99 euros. Netflix has implemented an additional fee for users who are not part of the same household, raising the price for this subscription from 3.99 to 4.99 euros, and from 4.99 to 5.99 euros in the other models. The ad-free basic subscription, which some existing customers had been able to retain, is being discontinued.

Netflix has not been conducting regular price increases recently, with the last price hike occurring in April 2024. The company states that they raise prices to provide an increasing level of value to their members. Despite the higher prices, enough customers have accepted the increase to keep Netflix's business growing. In Austria, the base price for the ad-supported subscription is set to rise from 8.99 to 10.99 euros next year.

In the U.S. market, the Premium subscription now costs 26.99 dollars. Netflix also points out that providing an attractive program catalog requires significant investments.
