USDT, MoPH sign MoU enhancing cooperation in research, education, community services

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) in Qatar has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) to enhance collaboration in research, education, and community services. The agreement was signed by Sheikh Dr. Mohamed bin Hamad Al-Thani, Director of the Non-Communicable Disease Prevention Programmes Department at MoPH, and Dr. Salem bin Nasser Al Naemi, President of UDST.

This MoU aims to establish a framework for cooperation in various fields, including designing and developing postgraduate degree programs, providing practical training and teaching opportunities, supporting graduation projects in health-related fields, and implementing continuing education programs in multiple disciplines. These disciplines include business administration, health sciences, engineering and technology, and computing and information technology.

The primary goal is to align with the health sector's priorities and contribute to the development of national capabilities. Sheikh Dr. Al-Thani expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting the potential benefits of combining both parties' expertise and capabilities. He also emphasized the focus on applied research that addresses national health needs and priorities, as well as the development of joint initiatives to promote community health and achieve Qatar's health sector objectives.

Dr. Salem bin Nasser Al Naemi, UDST's President, praised the MoU as a result of years of collaboration between MoPH and UDST, particularly in education and training. He noted that recent initiatives have included Executive Master of Science in Health Administration and Master of Science in Midwifery programs. Al Naemi highlighted the significance of this partnership in light of the National Health Strategy 2024-2030, which aims to improve the quality and efficiency of the healthcare system.

The MoU will support this strategy by producing qualified professionals who meet healthcare sector needs, developing academic and professional programs that meet future demands, and strengthening applied research and innovation.
