Umno’s future direction, unity govt ties among key issues at upcoming general assembly, says Asyraf Wajdi

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 — Umno's future direction and political cooperation within the unity government are expected to be key issues debated at the upcoming general assembly, according to Umno secretary-general Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki. The Rumah Bangsa agenda, proposed at the previous Umno General Assembly, is also a popular topic among divisions.

During a press conference, Asyraf confirmed that all 157 divisions submitted motions and that these were the two most discussed topics. He assured that the party would not restrict delegates from debating any issue, including those on social media. Asyraf emphasized that the assembly should serve as a platform for discussing the party's future direction openly and thoroughly, involving all three wings of Umno — Wanita, Pemuda, and Puteri.

The general assembly, attended by 6,401 delegates, is scheduled to take place from Sept 9 to 12 at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), with an expected turnout of over 50,000 people.
