Teacher murdered in Kitui, suspect at large

A 54-year-old teacher, Joseph Mutinda Ngemu, was brutally murdered while walking home from a drinking session in Kitui County. Ngemu, a Board of Management (BOM) teacher at Makuuni Primary School, was discovered with his body lying beside the road at Muambani Trading Centre. Police found the deceased, who was positively identified by his wife, and preliminary investigations suggest he had been drinking beer with colleagues at Kileleshwa Bar earlier that evening.

Ngemu reportedly left the bar around 10:30pm and was allegedly attacked with stones on his way to his rented house. A witness allegedly fled the scene fearing for his safety, and the suspect remains at large. Clothes with suspected blood stains were recovered from the suspect's house. The scene was documented before the body was transported to Mutomo Sub-County Hospital mortuary for preservation pending a postmortem examination.
