Reject directive to boycott 2027 election, ex-IPOB lawyer urges South-East residents

Former lead counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has urged South-East residents to reject any directive calling for a boycott of the 2027 general elections. The lawyer described such a move as a "tragedy" that should be avoided at all costs. In a press statement, Sir Ifeanyi emphasized that the people must not allow the reopening of wounds that have taken significant sacrifices to heal.

He questioned the directive, arguing that the region cannot pursue political objectives through strategies with detrimental consequences for its people. Sir Ifeanyi warned against the electoral boycott becoming another experiment in political absolutism, emphasizing that Ala-Igbo has already endured enough suffering. He urged the people to seek justice through legitimate avenues and to reject any attempts to make electoral participation an offense against their collective interests.
