President Sheikh Mohamed and Donald Trump discuss Middle East developments

President Sheikh Mohamed held a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump on Thursday, focusing on enhancing cooperation and strengthening bilateral relations. Both leaders addressed the most recent developments in the Middle East and ongoing efforts to tackle them.

On Wednesday, the UAE expressed strong disapproval of Iran's recent attacks across the region, specifically targeting Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and the Kurdistan region of Iraq. The UN Office of the Foreign Affairs labeled these "hostile attacks" as a clear violation of the sovereignty of the friendly nations and a significant threat to their security and stability.

Iran carried out the missile and drone assaults following American forces' strikes on around 100 sites inside the Islamic republic. US Central Command (Centcom) reported that their strikes targeted Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) air defenses, radar systems, maritime assets, mine-laying equipment, and communication sites.

The campaign followed earlier IRGC attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Centcom. Additionally, US drones fired missiles at two Iranian government ships under a new "tanker for tanker" policy, according to reports from Axios quoting US officials.
