President Sheikh Mohamed and Donald Trump discuss Middle East developments

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed engaged in a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump on Thursday, focusing on bolstering bilateral ties and addressing recent Middle East events. The UAE and the United States have been working to strengthen their relationship, with Trump commending Sheikh Mohamed's leadership on various fronts.

Speaking of the latest developments in the region, both leaders expressed their commitment to tackling ongoing challenges and ensuring regional stability. The UAE recently condemned Iran's attacks across the Middle East, particularly after Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and Iraqi Kurdistan were targeted. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that these hostile acts were a clear breach of the sovereignty of the neighboring nations and a threat to their security and stability.

Iran launched these missile and drone strikes following US airstrikes against several of its facilities, targeting air defenses, radar systems, maritime assets, mine-laying equipment, and communication sites. This retaliatory campaign came after Iran attempted to attack ships in the Strait of Hormuz, and US drones carried out strikes on two Iranian government vessels as part of a new "tanker for tanker" policy.
