Google Vids now lets you turn Docs, PDFs, and Word files into video summaries

Google Vids now offers a feature allowing users to transform documents, PDFs, Word files, and Google Docs into narrated video summaries with curated visuals. This new option, titled 'Docs to Video,' is found in the File menu of Vids. The AI scans the document, generates a summary script, and adds voice narration. Users can review, edit, and select alternative narrator voices before finalizing.

The tool then adds AI-generated visuals and backgrounds. Although similar to NotebookLM, this feature is exclusive to Google AI Plus, Pro, Ultra users, and those with Business, Enterprise, or Education plans, with rollout dependent on account type. Initial tests show the feature creates a script but may encounter rendering errors, which is typical for a new AI technology.

Despite this, the potential benefits are clear: saving time on reading through dense material such as meeting notes or training documents, and making the process less monotonous with visuals and narration.
