Google now lets you chat with Gmail, Docs, and Keep

Google has announced the launch of three new voice-powered features for Gmail, Docs, and Keep. These capabilities, previously in testing, are now generally available.

Gmail Live allows users to have spoken conversations with their inbox. Gemini can answer follow-up questions without repeating context and can be interrupted to switch topics. The interface displays a transcript and links to source emails. To use, tap the new Live icon in Gmail's search bar. This feature is accessible with Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra on Android and iOS devices in English globally.

Docs Live functions as a "hands-free thought partner and co-writer." Gemini can draft summaries, proposals, and more, using information from Gmail, Drive, Chat, and the web. It shows a summary before generating the document, allowing users to request additional details and formatting. In the Docs app, a floating action button leads to the "Create with voice" option. Docs Live is available with AI Pro and Ultra on Android and iOS.

Finally, Keep Live listens to "audio brain dumps" and generates notes and lists. Gemini comprehends your stream of consciousness, with Google Keep presenting an inline preview of the generated note after a few seconds. You can instruct Keep to add items like "ingredients for pesto pasta" to your shopping list, and it will understand your intent.

Multiple notes can be created in a single session, and existing notes can be edited or updated with voice commands. Keep Live supports both new and existing notes. This feature is available on Android with AI Pro and Ultra.
