Fubara signs N1.85trn 2026 Budget, thanks Wike

Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara has officially signed the 2026 State Appropriation Bill into law, describing it as a "breath of fresh air" marking the start of a new era of unity and progress for the region. The state's House of Assembly had earlier passed the N1.85 trillion budget, titled the "Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development," after thorough committee reviews and legislative scrutiny.

At a ceremony in Port Harcourt, Fubara expressed gratitude to God, stakeholders, and the Assembly for the successful passage of the budget, emphasizing it as a sign of a healthy relationship moving forward. He commended the diligent and swift work of the Assembly members during this critical period. Fubara reaffirmed his administration's dedication to the "Rivers First" principle and pledged that the 2026 budget will prioritize the welfare of the people, aiming for the state's prosperity and development.

He specifically acknowledged Federal Capital Territory Minister Chief Nyesom Wike for his instrumental role in the budget's approval and signing. Majority Leader of the House of Assembly, Hon. Major Jack, stated that the lawmakers passed the budget with the intention of implementing it for the benefit of the people. Speaker of the House, Rt Hon.
