Comoros opens Nairobi consulate as Kenya seeks deeper trade, investment ties

Nairobi, Kenya - The establishment of a Comoros Consulate in Kenya's capital represents a significant step forward in the two nations' diplomatic and economic relations. Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi received the Letters of Credence from the first Comorian Consul General, Mouigni Abdou, during a formal ceremony designed to signal a new chapter in Kenya-Comoros ties.

Mudavadi emphasized that the Consulate's opening represents a strong commitment to expanding trade, investment, and regional cooperation between the two countries. He highlighted that the Consulate would serve as a vital hub for enhancing access to consular services for Comorian nationals in Kenya and as an important platform for bolstering commercial links.

The new diplomatic mission is expected to unlock opportunities for businesses and investors from both nations to deepen commercial ties. Mudavadi stressed that the Consulate will contribute to connecting Comoros more closely with Kenya and Nairobi-based institutions, while also positioning Nairobi as a key regional center for diplomacy, international organizations, and business.

Mudavadi emphasized that strengthening regional partnerships will ultimately result in broader markets and more investment opportunities for Kenyans. He stressed that for Kenya, these stronger regional partnerships translate into bigger markets, greater investment, and more prospects for its people.
