‘Chief Justice’s role is to administer justice, not protect any agenda’ – Haruna replies Franklin Cudjoe

NPP Deputy General Secretary Haruna Mohammed responded to IMANI Africa President Franklin Cudjoe's assertion that Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie's recent remarks about state institutions' performance were not politically motivated. Speaking on Joy FM's Top Story, Mohammed insisted that the Chief Justice's role is strictly limited to upholding justice and preserving the judiciary's independence, not advancing any political agenda.

He argued that the Chief Justice's constitutional duties, as outlined in Articles 12(5) and 12(7) of Ghana's 1992 Constitution, do not involve protecting any party's interests. Mohammed warned that any suggestion that the Chief Justice is committed to a specific government's agenda could undermine the principle of judicial independence and indicate a breach of his oath to serve the nation's best interests.
