CGBio, CGMedtech Host Spine Endoscopy Masterclass

Regenerative medicine firm CGBio and spine and orthopedics firm CGMedtech jointly hosted the '2026 Spine Endoscopy Masterclass' at the FIVE Labs Cadaver Lab in San Diego, California, on August 15. The event drew 32 spine medical professionals from five countries in the Americas - the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, and Nicaragua. Mexico had the highest representation with 22 participants, followed by the United States (6), Brazil (2), Colombia (1), and Nicaragua (1).

The workshop focused on close guidance from eight spine endoscopy experts from South Korea and the United States, led by Professor Samuel K. Cho of Mount Sinai West and Professor Jin-Sung Kim of Seoul St. Mary's Hospital. These specialists provided practical training in the operation of UBE (Unilateral Biomechanical Endoscopic) techniques, including operating room setup, patient positioning, and advanced surgical procedures like ULBD and UBE Fusion.

Participants engaged in cadaver practice to learn how to maintain a stable endoscopic field of view and precisely manipulate instruments through two portals. Experts emphasized that, while UBE is minimally invasive, systematic practical training is crucial due to the confined space within which instruments must be maneuvered. CGBio and CGMedtech CEO Hyun-seung Yu highlighted the significance of sharing Korean medical staff's UBE surgical techniques with their counterparts in the Americas, and announced plans to establish a foundation for the company's solutions to spread globally through collaboration with international spine medical professionals.
