Boy charged after teenager's hand nearly cut off in Sydney

New South Wales police responded to an incident in Redfern, Sydney, on Wednesday night after receiving a call around 6pm. They found a 17-year-old teenager with a partially severed hand. Police claim the 17-year-old was assaulted by a 15-year-old boy who allegedly used a knife in a car park on Morehead Road. Paramedics treated the older teenager at the scene and transported him to the hospital with injuries to his right arm.

It was not immediately known if the hand could be reattached. Upon further investigation on Thursday morning, police stopped a car on Redfern Street and arrested the 15-year-old boy. He was charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and breaching bail. The teenager was denied bail and will appear at a children's court on Thursday.
