US: At least 1 killed in downtown Minneapolis shooting

At least one person died and another victim succumbed to their injuries in a shooting that occurred in downtown Minneapolis on Wednesday afternoon. The suspect involved in the incident also lost their life. Police reported that three officers were injured during the shooting, with two officers suffering gunshot wounds. All three injured officers were reportedly in stable condition after being treated at a local hospital.

The shooting took place shortly after 4:30 p.m. local time, and police immediately responded to the scene. They advised the public to avoid the area while the investigation was carried out. The FBI was notified and pledged to provide any necessary assistance to local authorities. Seven patients were taken to Hennepin Healthcare Medical Center in connection with the shooting.

The incident caused residents to be on high alert, with police securing the area and residents in the Loring Park neighborhood advised to stay away. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz expressed gratitude for the efforts of law enforcement in protecting the community and prayed for the well-being of the first responders involved.
