Ancelotti returns to Real Madrid

Croatian midfielder Luka Modric has expressed his intention to return to his former club, Real Madrid, in the future. Modric departed from the Spanish LaLiga champions as a free agent in 2024. Currently, the Croatian star is in the second season of his career at AC Milan, but he remains optimistic about a potential reunion with his former Spanish club.

Modric made his return to Real Madrid during his inaugural spell between 2012 and 2018. During his tenure, Real Madrid's manager, Jose Mourinho, played a pivotal role in securing Modric's signature. He recalled, "Signing Modric in 2012? It was practically impossible to negotiate with Daniel Levy’s Tottenham." Mourinho added that Tottenham's chairman, JAS, would assure him of a deal, only for Modric to later retract his decision due to a change of heart by Levy.

The manager emphasized Real Madrid's strong desire to sign Modric again, describing him as a top-tier player in any midfield position. He revealed, "You guys (journalists) attacked me for signing him for months, calling him the worst signing in Madrid history, and then he closed every mouth (laughs)."
