Hotel Shadab in Hyderabad sealed after food safety violations

On September 3, the Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) sealed the Madina circle branch of Hyderabad's famous Hotel Shadab. This action came just one day after the enforcement agency suspended the restaurant's FSSAI licence, following inspections that uncovered numerous violations of food safety and hygiene standards.

These issues included poor storage and handling practices for meat and other food items. TG SAFE had previously suspended Hotel Shadab's FSSAI licence on September 2, after its inspection teams identified the problems at the establishment. The restaurant has been granted seven days to address the identified food safety violations.

According to Anand Rao, Deputy Food Controller of TG-SAFE, the management can apply for a re-inspection once they have made the necessary corrections. If the violations are not remedied within the specified timeframe, the department may proceed to cancel the FSSAI licence.
