AJK PM orders bureaucracy to gear up for 100-day reform agenda

Muzaffarabad: On September 3rd, 2026, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Iftikhar Gillani instructed the bureaucracy to prepare for the implementation of the government's 100-day reform agenda, emphasizing that he sought to alleviate the hardships of the common citizen and generate new opportunities. Addressing his first meeting with government secretaries at the Prime Minister's Secretariat, Gillani stated that his government aimed to serve the people, with its performance visible on the ground.

His foremost priority, he declared, was to bring systemic reforms to the system, ease the burden on the common man, and create new opportunities. Gillani stressed that the administrative machinery played a crucial role in translating government policies into tangible results, urging collective efforts. "The success of any government largely depends on the efficiency, commitment, and sense of responsibility of its administrative machinery.

I expect the AJK bureaucracy to work with dedication and a sense of urgency to implement the reform agenda in letter and spirit," he emphasized.

Gillani assured the officials that the government would provide all necessary support to deliver meaningful reforms and enhance public service delivery. He highlighted unemployment as a significant challenge in the state and announced plans to introduce a youth engagement program and demand-based skills development programs in the social sector. Additionally, he promised relief measures for transport and healthcare services, promising urgent action to alleviate people's difficulties.

The prime minister affirmed that the government was committed to translating its reform program into practical measures, making its impact visible to the populace. He acknowledged that the 100-day agenda underscored the central leadership's seriousness in addressing the challenges of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Gillani also held briefings with Chief Secretary Khushal Khan and Inspector General of Police (IGP) retired Capt Liaqat Ali Malik to review the organizational structures of the Services and General Administration Department and the police department, respectively, discussing performance, future needs, and law and order in the territory.
