Accra–Kumasi Expressway: 170km of corridor cleared, only 6km remains – GAF

The 176-kilometre corridor for the Accra–Kumasi Expressway has seen 170 kilometres cleared by the Ghana Armed Forces Engineers, leaving a mere six kilometres to complete the task. This significant progress marks the final stage of the corridor-clearing exercise, according to the military engineering team. On September 3, the Ghana Armed Forces praised its engineers for overcoming the difficult terrain, stating that the finish line is in sight with only 6 kilometres remaining.

Earlier in July, it was announced that more than half of the expressway corridor, 89.5 kilometres, or 50.9 percent, had already been cleared by June 25, 2026. The corridor-clearing exercise, originally planned to be completed within 20 weeks, is a crucial preparatory step to establish the required right of way before the major construction works commence.

Once finished, the proposed expressway will enhance connectivity between Accra and Kumasi, cut down travel time, alleviate congestion, and facilitate the movement of people and goods.
