USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier docks in Thailand after nine months at sea

The USS Abraham Lincoln, bearing approximately 5,000 sailors, docked in the port of Chonburi, Thailand, on Wednesday following its extensive deployment in the Middle East. Journalists from the Associated Press observed the aircraft carrier entering Laem Chabang port, with the USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. passing by nearby. The ship, which had been supporting the U.S. war against Iran, had been at sea for over 250 days, a record-breaking continuous period.

Growing concerns have arisen over the Lincoln's prolonged deployment, including reports of declining mental health among the crew and shortages of essential supplies, such as food and hygiene products. The U.S. Embassy in Bangkok confirmed the vessel's arrival, stating that the Lincoln's strike group docked at Laem Chabang, while the USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. anchored at Sriracha, and the guided-missile cruiser USS Robert Smalls is stationed in Map Ta Phut, near Rayong province.

This was the Lincoln's first full port visit since beginning its deployment in 2025, marking 286 days at sea. Capt. Dan Keeler, the commanding officer of the Abraham Lincoln, expressed Thailand as the first port call during the historic deployment. Many of the service members are anticipated to visit Pattaya, a popular beach resort town.

Thai authorities have announced that the Lincoln's visit will serve as a period of rest and recuperation prior to its return to its U.S. base. Pattaya authorities welcomed the arrival, anticipating potential economic benefits. Security measures are being heightened to ensure a smooth visit.
