US military says it completed latest wave of strikes on Iran

On Tuesday, the United States military concluded a series of strikes against Iran, targeting various facilities, including air defense sites, radar systems, maritime assets, mine laying capabilities, and communications sites. These strikes took place as the Iran conflict escalated following a weekend exchange of fire and attacks on two Saudi oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran retaliated to the US strikes, escalating the situation in a significant manner.

The strikes occurred after a weekend exchange of fire, the first since late July, and two tanker attacks on Monday in the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran struck back at US assets in Jordan, Bahrain, and Iraq, resulting in casualties. According to the Iranian Red Crescent, five people were killed, including a four-year-old child, and 50 people were wounded at a wedding near Sirik, a coastal area on the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian news agency, IRNA, reported 68 people wounded.

This conflict, which has driven up global energy prices, has led to the death of thousands and displacement of millions. US Energy Secretary Chris Wright reported that 17 million barrels of oil transited the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, marking the highest level since the war began, reducing oil flows. President Donald Trump stated he is not attempting to force Iran to the bargaining table and questioned when the Iranian people would rise up and fight against the current situation.
