Ukraine strikes Russian depots, confirms MiG-29, Ka-27 destroyed in earlier attacks

On September 2, Ukraine's General Staff announced successful strikes on Russian military targets, confirming the destruction of two aircraft from earlier attacks. The Ukrainian forces targeted an ammunition depot in Volodymyrivka and a logistics depot in Ocheretyne, both located in occupied areas of Donetsk Oblast. Additionally, Ukrainian forces struck a concentration of weapons and military equipment in Bryansk Oblast, Russia.

Ukraine has been employing mid-range drones for strikes behind the front lines, typically between 15 and 124 miles away, for over a year. The strikes have targeted military air defense systems, command centers, and ammunition dumps. Furthermore, Ukraine confirmed destroying a Ka-27 helicopter near Yeysk airfield in Russia's Krasnodar Krai on August 30 and a MiG-29 fighter jet on August 27 at Millerovo air base in Russia's Rostov Oblast.

The MiG-29, a fourth-generation Soviet-designed jet, is designed to establish air superiority and provide frontline air defense. Both Ukrainian and Russian forces utilize this fighter jet in their respective air forces. The Kamov Ka-27 helicopter, originally built for the Soviet Navy, is primarily used for naval reconnaissance and anti-submarine missions.
