UAE strongly condemns hostile Iranian attack targeting Saudi Carrier “Sidr”

The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the hostile Iranian attack against the Saudi carrier "Sidr" while it was passing through the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in the loss of several crew members. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared that this act poses a severe threat to the safety and security of international navigation and represents a dangerous escalation that seeks to undermine the security and stability of a vital global waterway.

The UAE affirmed its unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia and pledged its full support for all measures designed to protect its vessels, national interests, and ensure the freedom of navigation in both regional and international waters.

The Ministry emphasized that the attack is a blatant violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which stresses the importance of freedom of navigation and opposes any targeting of commercial vessels or obstruction of international maritime routes. They also stressed that such actions, including the targeting of commercial shipping and using the Strait of Hormuz as a means of economic coercion or blackmail, are completely unacceptable and directly threaten regional stability, global energy security, and international trade flows.

Furthermore, the situation following the recent missile attack on an ADNOC-linked tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, which was the second incident within a two-day period, is now under control.
