Bahrain and Kuwait condemn Iranian attack on Saudi oil tanker in Hormuz

Qatar has strongly denounced Iran's attack on the Saudi tanker SIDR in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as its subsequent assaults on Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait. The country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the tanker strike violated international law and freedom of navigation, in addition to violating UN Security Council Resolution 2817.

The ministry reaffirmed Qatar's firm stance against using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool for exerting pressure and called for its immediate reopening. They stressed that freedom of navigation through this critical waterway is an unwavering principle and warned that its persistent closure endangers the interests of regional nations and the global economy.

The ministry also denounced the attacks on Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait as blatant violations of their sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as breaches of international law, the UN Charter, and the principles of good neighborliness. They warned that continued aggression could exacerbate tensions and hinder diplomatic and political efforts aimed at restoring regional security and stability.

Qatar held Iran entirely accountable for the attacks and reaffirmed its full support for Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait, alongside backing any legitimate steps they undertake to protect their sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and property. The ministry called for an immediate cessation of all military actions threatening regional security and stability, urging all parties to avoid actions that could escalate the conflict, revert to dialogue and negotiations, and abide by agreements reached through diplomatic initiatives.
