Macao Economic, Trade, and Tourism Investment Promotion Seminar Convened in Jakarta, Indonesia, Fostering Multi-Dimensional Cooperation to Jointly Explore New Opportunities Along the Silk Road

Jakarta, Indonesia – On September 1, 2026, the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region of China convened the Macao Economic, Trade, and Tourism Investment Promotion Seminar in Jakarta to foster multi-dimensional cooperation between the two nations. Over 350 distinguished guests, including Macao SAR Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai and Indonesian Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Susiwijono Moegiarso, attended the event.

The seminar yielded 80+ cooperation agreements across key sectors like tourism, high-tech, healthcare, and exhibitions. Macao SAR Chief Executive Fai emphasized that the implementation of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and Macao's 3rd Five-Year Plan will unlock new opportunities for cooperation with Indonesia, highlighting Indonesia as the birthplace of the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road” and a vital node along this route.

Under the Belt and Road Initiative and China-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue mechanism, friendly ties are expected to deepen further. Indonesian Deputy Minister for International Economic Cooperation Edi Pambudi noted that Macao's "One Country, Two Systems" status and long-term stability have earned it an outstanding international reputation, attracting global talent, capital, and creativity.

The Macao SAR Government aims to strengthen all-around pragmatic cooperation in trade, investment, MICE, tourism, and cultural exchanges to actively contribute to a shared future China-Indonesia community.
