Juventus sign Woltemade, Sarr on loan from Premier League

Juventus have signed Nick Woltemade and Pape Matar Sarr on loan from Premier League clubs Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur, respectively, the Italian club announced on Tuesday. Woltemade, a German striker, joins on a one-year loan deal while Sarr's move can be made permanent. This transfer comes as Juventus, once a dominant force in Italian football, struggle to find their form in the current Serie A season.

Woltemade, who was Newcastle's marquee signing last summer from Stuttgart for £69 million (US$94 million), struggled to adapt to English football. Despite a promising start with six goals in his first 11 games, his goal tally dropped significantly during his 53 appearances for Newcastle, scoring 11 times and providing six assists. Woltemade was included in Germany's World Cup squad but only found limited action, making a cameo in their round-of-32 elimination against Paraguay.

Sarr, a 23-year-old Senegalese midfielder, arrives on a one-year deal with an obligation for Juventus to acquire his registration rights for €27.5 million (US$31.9 million) if certain conditions are met during his loan period. Sarr, who won the Europa League with Spurs in 2025, made 141 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham, scoring 11 goals and providing the same number of assists.

His move to Juventus follows that of fellow Spurs teammate and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who also made the transfer to Turin earlier in the close season.
