Iran strikes back against latest US attacks

Iran retaliated against recent American attacks on Wednesday, warning of severe consequences for any further aggression from the United States. The conflict intensified in the Strait of Hormuz, expanding to US military bases in the region and drawing in Gulf allies. US President Donald Trump had previously threatened harsher attacks if Iran retaliated against the initial strikes, which Iranian state media claimed killed 11 people in southern and southwestern parts of the country.

Iran reported launching ballistic missile attacks on two US bases in Jordan, with the Jordanian military intercepting 10 of the projectiles without confirming any casualties or hits. Three additional missiles landed in remote areas, according to the country's military. Drone attacks were also reported in Kuwait, where the army said they were responding to Iranian hostilities, and Bahrain, where Iranian Revolutionary Guards struck US bases, destroying a maintenance center, warehouses, and equipment.

In Iraq's autonomous Kurdistan region, Iran's Revolutionary Guards struck US bases with missiles and drones, causing damage to infrastructure. The ongoing conflict began when the US targeted Iranian interests on Sunday, leading to Iranian retaliation in Jordan, the UAE, and oil tankers in unclaimed attacks. Seven people were killed and eight wounded in a missile attack in Khuzestan province, while another incident in Khuzestan left four dead and over 50 injured.

US Central Command spokesman Tim Hawkins emphasized that the US never targets civilians, in contrast to Iran's Revolutionary Guards. Iranian leaders have threatened severe punishment for any retaliation, with Revolutionary Guards spokesman Hossein Mohebi warning Washington of facing "severe punishment."
