India News Live Updates, 2 September 2026: Security tightened around BJP offices in J&K ahead of JKNC protest
Security measures were heightened around BJP offices in Jammu and Kashmir as the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) prepared to stage protests over statehood issues. The BJP has vowed to conduct a 'Secretariat Gherao' on Wednesday, highlighting concerns about recruitment and employment. In response, the National Conference announced plans for a counter-protest.
According to the BJP, they would peacefully surround BJP offices in Srinagar and Jammu, demanding accountability for promises made by the Union government in Parliament and before the Supreme Court concerning Jammu and Kashmir.
