There is also a slim possibility that the district attorney's office may decide not to retry the case due to concerns about a potential repeat outcome and the high costs associated with multiple trials, especially when expert witnesses are involved.

If Clancy is convicted, she could face life in prison, while an acquittal may result in her confinement in a mental health facility.
