FCTA targets 20,000 dogs, cats for rabies vaccination

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has launched a two-week vaccination campaign targeting between 15,000 and 20,000 dogs and cats across the territory's six area councils. Coordinated by the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, the campaign aims to curb the spread of rabies following recent cases reported in some parts of the FCT.

Mandate Secretary Sulieman Ango revealed that more than 100 veterinary officers have been deployed to strategic locations throughout the territory to ensure comprehensive coverage. The exercise, which will continue daily at designated centers, is expected to last for two weeks. Ango expressed confidence that the vaccination of 15,000 to 20,000 animals would effectively stop the virus's spread, highlighting that no new cases have been detected outside the affected areas since the intervention began. The campaign is being conducted free of charge at designated centers across the six area councils.
