Former Sportsnet broadcaster Christine Simpson shares breast cancer diagnosis

Former Sportsnet anchor Christine Simpson has announced she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The 61-year-old from London, Ont., disclosed her news via social media on Wednesday. The oncologist detected the cancer in its early stages, and Simpson will undergo treatment at the prestigious Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in downtown Toronto.

Simpson, whose father was the former NHL player Craig Simpson, embarked on her career as the marketing manager of the Hockey Hall of Fame. She then pursued a 10-year tenure at Sportsnet, commencing when the cable channel debuted in 1998. Following stints in the United States, Simpson rejoined Sportsnet as their hockey features reporter in 2011 before departing the network in 2024.
