Ex-Jonathan aide, Alkali mourns late NUJ FCT Chairman Osadebamwen

Former Jonathan aide Prof. Rufa’i Ahmed Alkali expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Patrick Osadebamwen, the late chairman of the NUJ FCT Council. In a statement on Wednesday, Alkali hailed Osadebamwen as a distinguished media professional and a pillar of the community whose impact on journalism and democratic governance would forever be remembered.

Alkali fondly recalled their years of collaboration in both public service and media circles, emphasizing Osadebamwen's exceptional professionalism and unwavering dedication to the values of journalism. Alkali penned, "Patrick was more than a journalist to me; he was a trusted friend, a courageous professional and a man whose unwavering commitment to the ethics and ideals of journalism earned him the respect of colleagues, public officials and members of the wider society."

The NUJ FCT Council, in honor of Osadebamwen, honored him with a night of tributes and established a Trust Family Fund to support his three children. Osadebamwen's demise serves as a somber reminder of the recent spate of losses within the media fraternity, with the capital region bearing the brunt of such unfortunate events.
