Dublin exhibition captures every Roy Keane red card

A new exhibition in Dublin showcases every red card in Roy Keane's football career. Artist Seán Harte's "Sent Off" series illustrates the 11 instances Keane was sent off for Manchester United and the one time he was dismissed for Ireland. His inaugural oil pastel painting marked Keane's first red card in 1995, resulting from an altercation with Crystal Palace's Gareth Southgate.

Harte recounted that the first painting was purely for amusement, igniting the project's momentum. The notorious knee-high tackle on Manchester City's Alf-Inge Haaland during the 2001 Manchester derby was captured in a series of paintings. Harte admitted that creating these paintings took time and felt pressured due to the tackle's infamous status.

He emphasized that his work has been influenced by Keane's candid podcast conversations and social media clips, resonating with fans of Irish popular culture and sporting nostalgia. Harte believes his art provides a unique way for people to revisit their football memories. The exhibition opens tomorrow at Hen's Teeth in Dublin.
