Dublin exhibition captures every Roy Keane red card

A new Dublin exhibition showcases every red card in Roy Keane's football career. Seán Harte, the Dublin artist behind the Sent Off series, has depicted the 11 occasions Keane was sent off for Manchester United and one time for Ireland. His initial oil pastel painting captured Keane's first red card in 1995, which occurred during an altercation with Crystal Palace's Gareth Southgate.

Harte explained that the series began as a lighthearted project, but it quickly gained popularity, leading him to continue creating more paintings. The infamous knee-high tackle Keane committed against Manchester City's Alf-Inge Haaland in a Manchester derby in April 2001 is among the works featured in the exhibition. Harte revealed that the challenging, knee-high tackle took him longer to complete due to the significant pressure he felt.

He credited Keane's candid podcast conversations and social media clips as sources of inspiration for his art. Harte believes his work resonates with fans of Irish popular culture and sporting nostalgia, allowing them to revisit their football memories in a unique way. The Sent Off exhibition is set to open tomorrow at Hen's Teeth in Dublin.
