Nigerian Army guards have successfully rescued Mrs Adonkie, the wife of retired Brigadier General Basil Adonkie, who was abducted from her residence in Abuja on September 1. According to a special situation report by the Guards Brigade, the abduction occurred at approximately 10:30pm, prompting an immediate deployment of troops to pursue the kidnappers.

The troops, from the 176 Guards Battalion and 197 Special Forces Battalion, advanced through ACO Estate and Gosa Community, where they made contact with the kidnappers. Around 11:09 a.m. on Wednesday, they intercepted two fleeing suspects in Gaube Village, Kuje Area Council.

Upon apprehending the suspects, the troops recovered an AK-47 rifle and a magazine loaded with 19 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Mrs Adonkie has been reunited with her family, and the two arrested suspects are currently in custody for further profiling. The Guards Brigade stated that ongoing investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other members of the kidnap syndicate.

Additionally, troops have intensified operations in the area to track down the fleeing criminals, maintaining high morale and fighting efficiency.
