On the 5th, Rep. Park Rae-gun of the Justice Party responded to the criticism that the plan to create a satellite party was an attempt to circumvent the law by saying, “Creating a satellite party is a way of survival under the current system.” In response, Rep. Jang Hye-young of the Progressive Party expressed her surprise at Rep. Park’s remark, saying, “It’s amazing to see such sophistry.” On the same day, Rep. Park appeared on a radio program and said, “If we don’t have a satellite party, we will not be able to form a coalition government with the Democratic Party.” He also said, “The satellite party will not be a puppet party, and we will have a clear distinction in roles and responsibilities.” Rep. Park emphasized, “The Justice Party will not give up its identity and values.” Earlier on the 4th, Rep. Lee Jung-hee of the Progressive Party and Rep. Kim Jong-hoon of the Democratic Party submitted a complaint to the National Election Commission against Rep. Park and Lee Nak-yon, the leader of the Open Democratic Party, claiming that their plan to create a satellite party was an attempt to evade the law.
