Ukraine updates: Russia hits Kyiv for sixth straight day

Russia has struck Kyiv for the sixth consecutive day, according to updates from Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned airlines operating over Russia, stating that Ukraine's drone operations would pose a safety risk. Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is not threatening civilian aviation or individual aircraft, merely deploying drones on a scale that must be considered.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called Zelenskyy's comments a declaration of state terrorism, urging negotiations but insisting that talks should not be extended to terrorists. Ukraine has been repelling Russia's full-scale invasion since February 2022 and has successfully targeted deep inside Russia with drones. Russian military strikes hit two cargo ships in the port of Pivdennyi near Odesa and caused damage to a thermal power plant in Odesa.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's military intelligence reported that a strike by Ukrainian forces hit Russia's Novatek oil complex in the Leningrad region. The 24-hour exchange of blows between Kyiv and Moscow has targeted energy infrastructure in both nations. Russia threatened a "devastating response" to any hostile action against it in the Baltic region, while NATO scrambled military aircraft in response to a potential air threat in Latvia's airspace near the Russian border.
