Thomas More College mourns Grade 8 pupil Awandiswe

Thomas More College is coping with the loss of Awandiswe Zulu, a beloved Grade 8 student who had been an integral part of the school since his entry as a baby. The college offered its deepest sympathies to the Zulu family and recalled Awandiswe as a cherished member of the college community. "With a heavy heart, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Awandiswe Zulu, a beloved Grade 8 pupil and an integral part of our college community," the school stated.

Awandiswe had spent his entire childhood years at the college, forming friendships with both students and educators. Nzuzo Mthembu, one of those who knew Awandiswe well, remembered him as an "outstanding young man." Mthembu recounted seeing him receive an award during the school's rugby evening in late June. "My child is struggling terribly right now.

We extend our heartfelt and sincere condolences to the Zulu family as well as the TMC family. May God provide you with comfort during this trying time," Mthembu expressed. Kim Nicholas captured Awandiswe's gentle spirit in her tribute. "RIP beautiful boy with such a beautiful heart. We send our deepest condolences to all the family ... may they find peace in their cherished memories.

We are thinking of you all," Nicholas said. Kim Gard also conveyed condolences, calling Awandiswe "such a lovely lad." "Our dear friend has many wonderful memories of him. I pray for strength for his family and [for them to know] that God's strength is there for them. I pray for his soul, Lord," Gard said. Thomas More College urged its community to extend compassion to the Zulu family while respecting their privacy.

"In this incredibly difficult time, we offer our deepest condolences and prayers to the Zulu family," the school said. The college encouraged pupils, staff, and families to keep the Zulu family in their thoughts and prayers. "Awandiswe will be deeply missed and will forever remain a treasured part of the Thomas More College family," the college declared. The tribute concluded with the phrase: "Lala ngokuthula (Rest in peace), Awandiswe."
