TCL sues Samsung for false advertising over 'Mini LED' televisions

Chinese electronics manufacturer TCL has filed a lawsuit against South Korean rival Samsung, claiming the latter is engaging in false advertising regarding certain televisions. The suit, initiated on Monday in a Los Angeles federal court, asserts that Samsung misrepresented its M Model televisions as utilizing Mini LED technology, which is engineered to enhance visual quality.

According to TCL, Samsung sourced a subpar, non-Mini LED model from a repurposed product line and presented it to consumers as a premium Mini LED offering at a competitive price point.

In response, Samsung issued a statement on Tuesday, vowing to vigorously defend itself against the allegations and maintaining the veracity of its product descriptions. The company's legal team emphasized that it stands "fully behind the quality and accuracy of our product descriptions."

TCL's legal representative, R.C. Harlan, contended that Samsung's deceptive practices misled consumers seeking superior picture quality, compelling them to purchase Samsung's incorrectly labeled product. This, according to TCL, not only unfairly hurt the company's sales and reputation but also undermined the value of their innovative technology.
