TCL sues Samsung for false advertising over 'Mini LED' televisions

TCL, a Chinese consumer electronics firm, has filed a lawsuit against South Korean giant Samsung, alleging false advertising and misleading consumers in Los Angeles federal court. The dispute centers around Samsung's M Model televisions, which TCL claims were improperly marketed as utilizing Mini LED technology. This advanced display tech, designed to enhance picture quality, is a key selling point for TCL's products.

According to TCL, Samsung took a lower-end, non-Mini LED model from a repurposed product line and presented it as a premium Mini LED offering at an appealing price. The lawsuit asserts that this deceptive marketing misled customers seeking the superior picture quality typically associated with Mini LED televisions into purchasing Samsung's mislabeled products. By doing so, TCL argues, Samsung unfairly tarnished the company's reputation, sales, and the value of its innovative technology.

Samsung, in response to the lawsuit, stated on Tuesday that it plans to vigorously defend itself against the claims and firmly maintains the accuracy and quality of its product descriptions. Despite Samsung's assertive stance, TCL's legal team, represented by R.C. Harlan, contends that the company's action has caused significant damage to TCL's business interests by unfairly damaging its sales, goodwill, and valuable technology.
