Sherif Ghali steps down as CEO of Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs after 10 years

Sherif Ghali resigned from his position as CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs (GCYE) after ten years of leading the organization. He founded the Chamber in 2015 with only 15 entrepreneurs, and it has since grown to over 19,000 members. Ghali stated that he felt it was time to step aside and focus on other endeavors.

He is not leaving the entrepreneurship ecosystem, however, as he intends to dedicate his efforts to the Ghana Youth Federation, where he serves as the founding President. Additionally, he plans to work on building a more robust ecosystem that includes investment, partnerships, and policy support for Ghanaian entrepreneurs. The GCYE was registered in 2016 and has since expanded its reach, joining the Private Enterprise Federation and the Commonwealth Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs Africa.

Under Ghali's leadership, the Chamber has delivered business development services to more than 4,000 entrepreneurs, hosted numerous training seminars, funded over 200 youth businesses, and secured over GHS 10 million for youth programs. He has also successfully advocated for tax waivers for young entrepreneurs and lobbied for the Startup and Innovation Bill.

Ghali's leadership has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Young Achiever of the Year and the National Youth Authority's Young Entrepreneur of the Year. The Chamber he leaves behind is now a well-established institution with offices, programs, and a large membership base, with Ghali remaining actively involved in other leadership roles.
