PM discusses with Fujairah officials steps to complete implementation of “Fujairah-Alamein” oil, gas company project

On September 1, 2026, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasized the attention President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is dedicating to the development of the Fujairah Alamein Oil and Gas Company. Madbouly described the project as a strategic opportunity, noting that the agreement to establish the company was recently signed. The completion of necessary procedures for the company's establishment and its first general assembly meeting at the Al-Hamra Petroleum Port, part of the Western Desert Petroleum Company (WEPCO) in New Alamein, would further cement the strong strategic ties between Egypt and the UAE.

Madbouly made these remarks during a government meeting in the New Capital with Mohammed Saeed al Dhanhani, Director of the Fujairah Amiri Diwan. The meeting aimed to coordinate the remaining steps required to complete the project's implementation. Dhanhani thanked Madbouly and highlighted the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' support for the project.

The meeting reviewed the project's implementation steps, which focus on enhancing Egypt's role as a regional energy trading hub and upgrading Al-Hamra Port to international standards. The project also involves storing crude oil at the New Alamein port, capitalizing on the port's strategic location to boost economic benefits for Egypt.

Karim Badawi, Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister, underlined the project's importance and the significant government support from both Egypt and the UAE. Badawi stressed that joint teams from both countries are working collaboratively to finalize the project's implementation and establish a timeline for its various stages.
