Man accused of spraying graffiti memorial on rocks at B.C. park arrested

According to Maple Ridge RCMP, a man has turned himself in to police after being accused of spray-painting a graffiti memorial on rocks at a park in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland. The arrest occurred last week, and the man has since been released pending a court appearance.

The incident reportedly stems from a video circulating on social media that showcased a message on boulders at Golden Ears Park. The message, dated August 4th, was spray-painted with red text. The timing of the graffiti coincided with the drowning death of a man in the creek’s Lower Fall area the previous day. BC Parks described the graffiti as a misguided tribute.

It is important to note that the man has not yet been charged with any crime, and police have stated that the investigation is ongoing. They are examining the possibility of criminal charges as well as potential violations of the provincial Park Act. The RCMP are urging the public to refrain from making conclusions until the investigation provides further details, given the significant public interest in the case.
